Geneva Freeport links each digital entitlement to an identified physical item (bar number, weight, fineness, location) held by a custodian, so that holders, custodian and bank see the same record of who owns what.
Legal framework it fits
- Swiss custody and deposit law (CO Art. 472 ff.) for the underlying assets
- Ledger-based securities under CO Art. 973d where entitlements are issued as securities
- Precious-metals rules apply to the dealer or assayer, not to the software (Precious Metals Control Act)
- AML duties stay with the dealer or financial intermediary
Core features
- Bar-level inventory with serial number, weight and fineness
- Allocated entitlements per holder, no pooling
- Custodian attestation and periodic reconciliation
- Transfer restrictions and freeze
- Audit export for vault audits
Functions that can be added under this legal order
- Art and collectibles register with condition reports
- Insurance certificate tracking
- Redemption / physical delivery workflow
- White-label portal for the vault operator
